Minulla on ollut hyvä onni olla mukana uuden kanootin synnyssä. Eikä mikä tahansa kanootti. Kanootti on ensimmäinen suomalainen sarjavalmistukseen suunnitelut yksinmelottava avokanootti, lyhyesti C1. Kanootin isä on Ari Holmi Welhonpesästä. Welhonpesä on tuottanut useita hyviä kajakkeja ja jokusen suositun perus- avokanoottimallin. Olen avokanottimeloja ja lisäksi olen ammatiltani graafinen muotoilija . Sen lisäksi, että olin yksi prototyypin koemeloja ja kommentoija, pääsin mukaan ideoimaan uutukaiselle nimeä ja ilmettä. Katsellaan vähän kuvia: Ensi kokeilut prototyypillä. Kanoottia on helppo meloa, se vaikutti nopealta pieneen kokoonsa nähden, kulki suoraan ja tarvittaessa kääntyi liki paikoillaan. Suoraan sanoen kanootti vaikutti liian hyvältä ollakseen totta. Onneksi talvi oli myöhässä, meille jäi reilusti aikaa kokeilla kanoottia myös merellä. I was lucky to be part of a birth of a new canoe. And not just any canoe. This is the first ever production model C1 canoe made in Finland. It was designed by Mr Ari Holmi at Welhonpesa company. Welhonpesa is an old paddling company, reseller, importer and they have had their own kayak & C2 production for years here in Finland. I am open canoe paddler and I am a graphic designer too. This was also my first canoe, which I had the opportunity to design the logo and coloring. Let's look at some pictures. First strokes with No Name -canoe. It was easy to paddle, felt fast to its size, tracked well and turned on a dime. It felt too good to be true. We were lucky the winter was late, so we could test the prototype quite thoroughly at sea. Sliding seat was not needed, mid section felt inch or two too low. Otherwise No Name was very promising.
